You gotta hand it to Manila Central if you're looking to get your Peeleepeeno Pood Pix on because there are so many places to choose from in this Barrio. Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos would have no problem finding some really good Ilocano Eats if they were to stroll around this part of Batac, oops I mean Kalihi.
Chicharon to the Peeleepeenos is the equivalent to what Roast Pork is to the Chinese, and finding really good Chicharon is really hard to come by. To me really good Chicharon has to have that Crunch factor and at San Nicolas, they deliver and then some. The slabs of Chicharon never stay in the pan too long because there is such high demand for it which is a good thing. That means that when you order it, you know you're gonna get a good product. Have them chop it up for you. After taking one bite of the Chicharon at San Nicolas, I now know where I'm going to get my Chicharon fix from now on. Love that Crunchy Skin and there is actually some meat as well. Make sure you eat this Chicharon with some diced Tomatoes and Onions and Patis to cut down on that fatty intake.
Eating too much of this Chicharon gets me feeling nauseous as you get older my tolerance isn't how it used to be.
But for me, the one thing you should order here at San Nicolas if you want the perfect companion for your Chicharon is the Pinakbet. Make sure you eat these two together and you have the best of both worlds. Put that on a heaping mound of rice and it is pure heaven baby.
Here is he one problem I have when coming here though. As soon as you walk in, you would think that the line would start right there , but you have to go all the way to the back and wait in line which is very confusing considering the configuration of the restaurant.
And you know how Filipinos are. They just think they can just walk in and order immediately without having any consideration that there are other people waiting to order as well. This ain't no Chicken Fight my fellow Filipinos. You can't just bark out your order like you would place a bet on a Chicken.
They really should have a number system here at San Nicolas because I could only imagine how crazy it gets here. I actually got lucky and got serviced by a very nice Filipino Lady when I went there.
This place is definitely legit if you are looking for amazing Chicharon. If you want hardcore Filipino Food, this is definitely the place for it. Hannibal Lector would have a field day here.
Also the bags of Crispy Pork Rinds are her popular here as well. -

The chicharron bulaklak weighed very heavy (compared to the ones from Seafood City). It's because it was not cleaned properly. There were s**t inside the intestines. When I said "s**t, I am literally talking about feces.
2 pieces weighed 3/4 of a lb.
The dinakdakan - they used pig's face. The texture is disturbing. It has hairs and bumps.
I threw up and was sick mentally (disgusted) and physically.

One of the best places in Kalihi . Just went yesterday and ordered this the pig intestines were so so spoiled ! Me & my dad ate it & That was one of our favs from there . Not ordering that from there anymore , I'm worried now .

Sometimes i get this cravings out of the blue and if i don't satisfy the craving i even have dreams about it!! In my country we have this "pan con chicharrón" which is bread, pork with the fat, mayonnaise, sweet potato and onion in a juicy lemon sauce! Delicious!! So i knew i had to find me something close to that so i can stop having this pan con chicharrón dreams!! Then I remember this place i came long time ago!
Here the reviews:
-Ambience: nothing fancy or even clean but i dont care about that as long as i i get good food!
-Service: they all were friendly and nice.
-Food: OMG! Their chicharrón was just done and i could still hear the crunching from the skin!!!
It was worth the waiting!
I also got me a beef soup that it was a little bit on the salty side but still good!
Overall i will come back!
And thank God that my pan con chicharrón dreams finally stopped!

I was craving some Filipino food and since I read the reviews on San Nicolas I decided to get some take out. First thing is that the parking situation is terrible, you have get lucky. When we entered the restaurant we were surprised that it was pretty crowded at about 11:00, a good sign. There seems to be a loyal following of regular customers and you have to get lucky to get a vacant table since there is so few. The buffet style food didn't look too appetizing, every dish seemed to have the same brown color. But, looks aren't everything so I ordered a take out pinakbet lunch. To me pinakbet is my gauge on how good a Filipino restaurant is so I was looking forward to trying it. I am not a fan. The whole dish was mushy, there wasn't too much of a variety of vegetables and it just didn't taste right. It was a little salty and lacked that patis flavor that I like. Sorry, forgot to take a picture of my lunch. I was debating about giving 3 stars but decided on 2 because I probably won't return.
